Other cool brands worth knowing about

(Moved from my merchandising thread since I sortof got into it and strayed from the real subject:)

Hello, I figured since Brammo is one of the hidden gems of the world I might as well share the rest of the treasure I've found on the internet. Enjoy!

I'm sorry if this seems like video spamming or advertising other companies for some reason, I just think these are cool and not many other people know about them. I'll add anything else I can think of and you should too (of anything, remember this is OFF topic!)

I'm mostly into technical apparel, playing around with brands like these:

X-Bionic, the only athletic baselayers scientifically designed/proven to work with the body's sweat system (I have the Energizer baselayer  :))

Carbon X, virtually fireproof fabric (much better than Nomex)

d3o, the first commercial production of STF-fluid impact armor (not as amazing as STF can be but it's mostly reserved for the military)

This is all kinda pricey stuff but I think it's interesting  8) (Now you know what I do with my freetime!  ;))

Here's a relevant use for all this stuff, some intense riding gear using d3o, Gore-Tex, and other stuff with crazy features! http://www.klimusa.com/documents/AdventureRallyCatalog.html

Oh, and here's a site if you wanna look like Batman   ;D

Scottevest, famous for gadget-geared multi-pocketed clothing (I have the 13 hidden-pocket hoodie  ;D)

Uh...so maybe I'm getting a little on the extreme side >> I'm gonna be a Marine so I'm interested in these sorts of things. I'm not crazy!  ::)

Anyway, hope this isn't too over-the-top to post. I could take out all the videos if it makes the post ridiculous!

Very cool thread. I recently bought 30 Iron Key flash drives for my company to use. I gave a presentation on them to my parent company in Japan in February. As the administrator, I can remotely destroy the data on any of the flash drives if a drive is lost or stolen.

I also have two daughters who practice is Aikido with wooden bokkens at their dojo. The metal ones look pretty slick in the video.

Thanks!  ;D I was beginning to worry that people thought it was just a bunch of weird gadgets and things that have nothing to do with motorcycles! (Well maybe it is)

Anyway, I'd love to hear more about the Ironkey if you've had any other experiences with them. I guess flash drives aren't really a necessity for me yet (especially such a premium model) but I have bought a Pico Flash drive, 8GB and smaller than a quarter. Very cool (though I lost it...  :-X so I gotta keep searching)

Also, I think martial arts are amazing no matter what style someone chooses to pursue. Personally, I'm looking into Iaido, the earliest Japanese sword training (my dad says I need to finish my Eagle Project before I start anything else though).

Iaido was developed for samurai to counter assassination-attempts, and because of this it hasn't developed into a very effective art of self-defense for modern use. However, as a result the art of Iaido has maintained its traditions and has become a cultural art that has been titled as "moving Zen." It's great for meditation and physical toning, and I like it because its like yoga with swords!

Eishin Ryu Video Clips
That's my soon-to-be sensei doing some drills

Anyway, I haven't really started yet but I've purchased books and also one of those bokken in the video. They are actually high-grade polypropylene (a plastic). However, they are ridiculously strong and feel like the "real deal" when held in the hand. These aren't metal - sorry if the "Cold Steel" threw you off. (Having a metal bokken might seem redundant ;))

So, sorry about the rant. I guess I'm just really looking forward to this!

Are there any other cool products / activities / foods / whatever, that deserve recognition?

Iron Key drives are really a neat item. I was looking for a really secure flash drive to protect against viruses and lost confidential data. Here are some of things that make it cool in addtion to the remote disable/destroy feature.

- waterproof
- proxy server service (all internet surfing can be through the Iron Key server)
- ID and password to access the drive
- anti-malware, anti-spyware, anti-hacking features
- where the drive has been used can be located on a world map
- can keep track of all of your ids and password for websites you visit
- the electrical components are encased in a polymer-plastic to help it stay waterproof and it will self- destruct (e.g. destroy the data) if someone tries to break into the drive physically.

Here's another weapon, called Metal Storm.
I think this is just ridiculous but it's cool to watch at least.
