I think you will find this article interesting. In particular, I liked this quote:

Interesting read.  I knew the rider was the most un-aerodynamic part of it all =P  I do wish the Empulse had a fairing of some sort.  It's shape I believe channels air underneath the helmet making for a noisier ride.  =/

Interesting....  BUT, aero is huge !!!!  Just ask the guys in F1, Moto GP or better yet pro bicycling....  They spend tons on aero....  Maybe the "street designers" just haven't figured out the importance yet....  Yeah, you gotta get everything (humans) tucked in to make it work....

Then there's Terry Herschner's experience with a Craig Vetter fairing that allowed his Zero to go twice as far between charges. But I don't think I'd want to ride such a machine on my daily commute!
