I agree. Does anyone know if this classic pose for the impulse showing 4 battery modules is the 10.0?? Also, any idea who will make the battery??

http://www.leydenenergy.com/

The numbers work out well for 24 or 30 cylindrical cells in series @ 3.7v nominal (88.8v for 6.0/8.0 or 111v for 10.0), and however many cells in parallel. Just speculation.

And that probably means you're looking at the 8.0 with the 4 battery modules.

Thx for the link. I have never heard of Leydenenergy.---It's not an Fe chemistry, but supposedly w/ Fe advantages like high temp capability and durability. The little bit of number crunching I did yesterday made me conclude that Brammo needs a cell w/ a pretty high enrgy density of at least 200wh/l (for the module not the individual cell). Leyden is talking greater than 400wh/l for the 18650 cell--pretty good.

Before you gave me the link I was thinking the 2.9 ah Panasonic might be good as it has a cell energy of 600 wh/l and when packaged in a module a density of 200 wh/l. I believe Tesla is using these now.

Protomech,
Do you think Brammo is using 18650's?? and
How do you suppose they can get the price bogey they need w/ these Leyden cells??

Nice ad....Brammo should get the front forks to match the color on all the Empulses...The matching gold "tank" and seat trim to the fork looks good there...

Can they go red forks with red tank and trim? and black forks with black tank and trim?

etc etc

If they did... it would look something like this:
[smg id=172 width=600]
(with thanks to empulsebuyer)

I guess they are. The Valence packs in the Enertia use 18650s internally, it's a pretty common format.

Good question re: pricing. $1k/kwh is low for limited-run lithium cells, but high for volume production. Perhaps it's a bit of a gamble.

Gavin, you can get colors close to the body color by a process called clear anodizing; it can be done in many, many colors, but would add to the cost of the bike.  The nice thing is it could be done by an owner, after the fact, but this would require completely disassembling the forks.  It could be offered as an extra-cost option...
