Polaris buying Empulse back
« on: October 05, 2019, 11:24:10 PM »
Has anyone had Polaris wanting to buy your Empulse back? The battery has gone bad and the dealer said that it would cost 11k.  Good thing I bought the extended warranty.

Zero bought back their entire production of 2012 bikes in 2018 when their batteries started catching on fire while charging, I believe. They said there was a defect in the battery design or assembly. (Not surprisingly, there was a dispute about the cause of the fires between Zero and the battery manufacturer.) My daughter received $6,500 for her 2012 ZF9 Zero S in June 2018, just in time to use the money to help pay the closing costs on the house she was buying. So there might be some hope for you if Empulse or Enertia batteries start going up in flames.   :o
current bikes: 2018 16.6 kWh Zero S, 2011 Royal Enfield Bullet 500 Classic, 2009 BMW F650GS, 2007 BMW R1200R, 2005 Triumph T-100 Bonneville, 2002 Yamaha FZ1 and a 1978 Honda Kick 'N Go Senior.

Yes I’m getting the ftr1200.  But I have to pay the difference for the s. But they will be paying for the tax and registering.  I rode the bike for a year an a half 20k miles.

How long did it take for Polaris to get back to you and make an offer? It appears a cell or more is dead on my battery as well. I also have the extended warranty. I dropped my Victory Empulse off at the dealer a couple days ago. They said they'd get to it this coming week. Assuming it's what it seems, how long should I expect before I hear from Polaris?

Also did you contact Polaris yourself or did you just go through the service facility (ie dealer or whomever)

Thanks

I believe Polaris who owns Indian and Victory also owned and still owns Brammo. It is the plan to rebrand the Brammo to and Indian as Victory has been removed from the service line.

Do you have a source for this information? The last I heard was... nothing. Victory disappeared and, along with it, so did the Empulse.

I subscribe to several MC mags and one mentioned the next electric would be an Indian. Perhaps that is just rumor but I don't think Polaris sold brammo and still have some plans for it. I will have to investigate but Polaris is typically pretty secretive.

My Empulse TT started showing the B62 System error code... it won't charge to 100% only 98%! It tries to balance the battery and will then show the error code... I also get it while driving.  Question, is this the same thing you guys with bad batteries have experienced? TVETT did Polaris get back to you yet?
