BRD announces new supermoto EV
« on: August 22, 2011, 10:00:07 AM »
A company called BRD has announced a rather impressive EV supermoto electric vehicle. They are claiming speeds up to 100 mph and a range of 50 miles from their 5.2 kWh battery. They are hoping that police departments will find their "RedShift" brand of EVs perfect for urban patrol duty. (Hey Brammo, how are sales of the Enertia to urban policed departments going?)  Unfortunately, there is no information regarding price and availability.

Also hard facts are in short supply and it looks like a small group of developers have produced an interesting vehicle and are now trolling for venture capital - which is getting to be in short supply lately, no thanks to the weak economy and tanking stock market.

See the report here:  http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/News/newsresults/New-bikes/2011/August/aug2211-brd-hopes-to-top-100mph-with-electric-bike/
current bikes: 2018 16.6 kWh Zero S, 2011 Royal Enfield Bullet 500 Classic, 2009 BMW F650GS, 2007 BMW R1200R, 2005 Triumph T-100 Bonneville, 2002 Yamaha FZ1 and a 1978 Honda Kick 'N Go Senior.

Here is a link to a Two Wheels blog that provides a lot of photos of the RedShift supermoto EV, including many closeups of the bike and some of their shop. Their shop doesn't exactly look like what I would call "Brammo quality". I think they have a long way to go before any production for public sales manufacturing starts.
