Bad news, Gavin. I hope you're right and that this information is wrong.

Prefer the plus, but the Zero DS really isn't a bad bike...and I can get one now....Mmmmmmm

You got me looking at Zero bikes and now I'm slowly starting to lean towards the Zero S. Looks are not any better than the Enertia(+), but it has a belt instead of a chain and the rest of the specs are similar. Even the price's the same. And it looks like I can even test-drive one here in the Netherlands.
After almost a year of waiting, this Zero S looks tempting. Especially since my old Suzuki doesn't really look like it can survive another winter.

hopefully we hear more soon...

as for the Zero S....not sure about the Netherlands, but here the price is 1000 more than the Plus and the range is 20 miles less...

not horrid, but for me I prefer the looks, price and range of the Plus over the Zero...

which is why I've been waiting for the Plus...i could go DS if the wait really is next summer...but my preferred option is Plus...

ps...go Oranje... :)

Zero's bike is a bit of a half-step between the Enertia 3.1 and the Empulse 6.0. It's currently priced the same as the Empulse 6.0, but it has the distinct advantages of significantly lighter weight and availability today.

The Enertia Plus will muddy the waters a bit, but 2Q2012 availability is a good six months out -- and that's assuming no further slips. I don't know that an Enertia Plus slip will impact the Empulse, we don't know why the Enertia Plus has slipped. The most significant upgrade between the Enertia 3.1 and Enertia Plus is the battery pack; we now know that Leyden will not be supplying it, so presumably the schedule slip is due to selecting and validating cells from a new supplier. (could also be due to switching from Brammo production to Flextronics)

It makes sense for Brammo to use the same cells for the Enertia Plus as the Empulse - higher volume, commonality of parts. So cell availability puts a hard lower bound on Empulse availability as well -- but between the six speed IET and all other niggles in turning out a production bike, the battery pack may turn out to not be a critical element in the Empulse ship date.

Gavin - much like computers, the longer you wait to buy the better the bikes will get. If you keep waiting for the next best thing you'll convince yourself to never buy : P Pick a hard date and buy the best bike that meets your budget at that time IMO.

Oh I agree whole heartedly...I'm a computer guy...I well understand the "If you NEED it, buy it; If you don't need it, wait because the computers keep improving"

And, A) I don't NEED any motorcycle...electric or gas....and B) I know the batteries are going to get better and better...and likely pretty fast.

So any electric motorcycle I buy will quickly have a much better replacement in a year...

Saying all that, A) I WANT an electric motorcycle...and wants can be somewhat demanding :)   and B) I really want to help support and grow electric vehicles...

waiting and waiting won't help Brammo (or Zero) make any sales. And so I want to support EV growth with my dollars. So better bikes are made...and better batteries...etc.

But I "could" wait for a long time...I have a nice powerful scooter...I have a cute little car...and I have my bicycle that I ride 4 or 5 months a year.

Or I could buy one ASAP...I'm willing to wait a bit for the Plus as I like that bike...but come Oct/Nov I might change my mind...

Thanks

Gavin

Meanwhile, while I am waiting for my Brammo Empulse to appear, today I received a letter from the Scooter Store wanting to sell me one of their electric scooters so that I can get around without someone else's help.   :o

67 and I might add that my mother's 93rd birthday is Saturday and she is still living by herself. On the other hand, she hasn't driven a car (much less a motorcycle) since 1940.   :o

I personally dislike Zero's looks and the way they completely ignored me when I tried to get a test ride. I think the company's service is the number one factor that reflects the overall quality of its product. Zero failed to convince me they have any.
Brammo has proven to be very attentive to their costumers, just not their future customers. Unfortunately, the only electric bike that appeals to me is the Empulse as it is the only good looking/good performance bike that I can afford.
As I have mentioned before, I got tired of waiting and got my name off the waiting list. I keep promoting and supporting Brammo, but I am looking for the first e-bike that doesn't look or perform like a toy that I can find. If the Empulse is the first, great. If it's not...

Apparently my subconscious is getting rather impatient too.
I had a dream last night where I bought a Ducati monster...
And this guy costs a little less than the Empulse 10.0 I signed up for, and is available NOW!

Fortunately for me, I put all my surplus cash into my house and have to pay off Home Depot and Sears for the next few months... I guess that's one of the only things holding me back from getting this bad boy :D

Well it is the end of Sept...and Sept news was quite a bit less thrilling than I had hoped...

yes BrammoParx is cool...but distant to us US fans.

I had thought that we would:

1) Hear about Hungary product hitting the states.

2) Hear about the winners of an Empulse and Enertia Plus from the 1000 pre-orders...yes the winners wouldn't get a bike right away (especially the Empulse winner), but it would be good press to get those names out into the interwebs.

3) Hear from early pre-order people that they have put down a deposit and will get bikes soonish.

4) More dealerships.

Oh well...hopefully October is the big news month....Guess I will be starting that thread tomorrow...
