The Empulse will report error codes in the dashboard. Some of them are the result of a critical error that will cause the bike to stop functioning, others are warnings that may result in problems with the bike, and some are warnings that were included to be displayed but have no effect on the performance of the bike. This page serves to document what error messages have been seen by bike owners.

Note about the software version: There are currently software releases for the Empulse. The first version was shipped with early deliveries of the bike. There has been one update which fixed a number of issues - Faster Speedometer update, failure to charge the battery using some level 2 chargers. All bikes should be on this latest version.

Code Manual Says Affect Solution Notes
V58 VCU +12V Out of Spec No apparent effect Restart the bike When this error appears, it is intermittent. It may flash on and off again in a few seconds, or so quickly that the error code cannot be read. The cause for this error are uncertain. It may be related to hitting the throttle fairly hard. Battery state may have some effect. Brammo recommended taking the bike to the dealership to have a look at it. It is probably a harmless error message.
B9 No manual entry No apparent effect Wait for the bike to dry up. This often shows up after riding through heavy rain. It will stay on, sometimes for weeks, but will eventually only show intermittently and then finally go away. Brammo says that this error can be ignored. They even said that they would stop reporting it in future software upgrades.
A6 AIM Module Not Communicating Will not run, will not charge. When charging, charger fan does not cycle when first plugged in. Cycle key or unplug charger and plug back in. I've been getting this one about every third time I plug in for the last month, and maybe every tenth time I first leave for a ride.
