Enertia Throwing H73 code (bad/missing USB Drive)
« on: July 31, 2012, 10:02:22 PM »
My Enertia threw the Service Required H73 code today- I've not mucked with the USB, so it may actually be bad.

I've contacted Brammo and will let you know what I find out- I didn't really see anything else on the forums here where people have actually had the USB drive go south.

Please let me know if this experience is more common than it appears to be.

Best, Steve

You might try reseating the stick, or take it out and mount it in a computer and see if it works properly, make sure it's not > 90% full, etc.

The only time it's happened to me is when the USB stick was, indeed, missing.

Is the USB drive special in some way, or could I put any (sufficiently large) USB drive in there? If the drive were getting full, I wonder if I could simply transfer all the files to a larger drive and use that.

(Note that I don't have an Enertia, but I assume that the Empulse that I plan on getting will have a USB port too.)

This is a SuperTalent 4GB drive in the micro package.

It is enumerated by the PC and a drive letter is assigned, but it will not format, and I get the message:

"There is no disk, please insert and then try again."

I happen to have an older 2 GB Sony Microvault drive that is a very similar physical form factor.

Formatted the Sony with FAT32, inserted into bike and the code cleared.

I'll send you an email with my address; it would be great if I could get a replacement drive.

Sorry for the trouble.

i have the same problem.  Did I understand that all I need is a new supertalent 4GB drive, formatted with FAT32? No dealers within hundreds of miles from here.
Thanks

I had the same code. Yes, just plug in a new thumb drive.

You can also try formatting the existing drive. I had problem with my Empulse, and it seems to have fixed itself, mostly. (I still see the error every once and awhile) Any USB drive should work as long as it fits in the shell, too.

Just to be safe, use one the same size, or smaller.  Some devices are limited on how much of a file system they can handle.  Larger may work, or... may not.

Just after I saw this thread, I started getting the H73 error. Weird.

Plugged the thumb drive into my laptop and ran Windoze diagnostics which said it repaired two corrupted file errors. To be safe, did a full format and now... viola.... no more error message. Thanks guys!
