Brammo Enertia Basic 2012 showpiece - reduced range
« on: January 24, 2018, 06:44:18 PM »
Hello,
I'm thinking of buying a well-preserved Brammo Enertia motorcycle from 2012.
It's a showpiece from the vendor and it's only 1300 kilometers.
The only problem is that there is now a very low range of driving because the motorcycle often did not run. The range has been reduced to approximately 30 km in summer and 10 km in winter.
When the battery is charged at 100%, the voltage imbalance is greater than 0.1V and the value of the least charged cell is less than 0.65V.
Please tell me what to do with it. Is any of the batteries or its bms system faulty? Is it possible that the battery packs are properly balanced over time when I drive more often on the motorcycle and then charge the batteries more often? Does the range increase in time?

The voltage of the least charged cell is <0.65V?  If that's true then at least that cell is completely borked.

However, from your picture it appears the high cell is 3.706V and the low cell is 3.521V.

BRAMMO has a way of balancing cells, I'm trying to remember. I think if you leave your bike on the charger for days at a time it will balance the cells.

Yes, allow the bike to remain at top of charge for days and monitor the imbalance. If it does not improve, you have a dying module. If it does improve and the imbalance drops, you should see better range, albeit limited by the overall again affects on capacity.

Be patient, let her charge!

This Brammo Basic was bought by one man from Germany, but found one of the batteries was defective. So the motorcycle is for sale again.
