Getting Cold Out There...
« on: October 28, 2010, 11:23:52 PM »
Just rode in a nasty, windy, rainy mess today.  Still glad I wasn't stuck in a car!

By the way, I also picked up a new riding jacket that is perfect for days like today.  I used to think Icon's stuff was just for urban stunt riding or crotch rocket riders with chrome extended swingarms, but now they've got some gear for the rest of us...

This jacket is pretty unbelieveable in attention to detail and comfort.  I think I might wear this thing skiing this season!  I've got the gray, which is actually a much richer color (more of a titanium) in real life than on the website.  The mil-spec yellow would be great for visibility!

I bought an Icon perforated leather jacket 4k miles ago, it's held up pretty well. I really like the way it fits.

A textile jacket may well be my next gear purchase.

I have an Icon leather jacket with a removable lining that is perfect for both cold and warm weather riding.

I have the non-perforated one. Love it!

Nope, mine is black, which goes well with my Gixxer and will go even better with my Empulse :).

That's a nice one, might just pick it up when I get my empulse, We have mostly hot weather riding here, but it'll be good for the few cold months we have here in Az.
Black looks good to me, may get hot in the sun here, but hey, a guy's gotta look good right ;)

This morning I parked at work in the parking garage and went to plug in...it was a chilly morning so I looked at the temp before plugging in...29 degrees...had to wait a couple of hours till it warmed up enough to charge...

Still great charging at work, but through the winter I might have to do more at home charging

Snow and sleet again...but more leg protection this time...

Not much sticking to the road, luckily...hopefully it doesn't freeze overnight or the morning will be a dang icy ride...

I think it's great that you're out there in the cold, testing your engineering mule.  I would have ridden in today except that I have to take/pick up my daughter at camp.  If the weather holds out until next week, I'm definitely riding in.

Side note: because there are only 1-2 motorcyclists riding in this time of year, the parking spots in the lot have been "loaned" to some of the contractors.  Today, for instance, a red Hummer H2 took up about 10 spots.

Yeah, the mule is such a gift**...THANKS BRAMMO!

I do, selfishly, wish it was a Plus mule...would LOVE more range and would love to see the changes (steering lock turning changes, new mirrors and other minor changes).

But that is kinda looking a gift mule in the mouth....

Gavin

**not an actual "gift"...I do know she will be going back to Brammo someday...or maybe more likely to a local Polaris dealership for them to use as a test ride bike when they start selling Brammo motorcycles.

I'm actually glad (selfishly) that you've got the regular mule.  Your reports provide all the information I need to know for justifying my decision to wait and spend more to get an Empulse.  I can actually picture in my mind a lot of the trips you describe, and compare them to what I'd do on my own Brammo.  Then I do the math in my head and get to mumble to my self "with an Empulse 10.0, I wouldn't have to charge there...  or there... or there..."    ;)

Ha, thanks...glad I can help. :)

The upside of getting the Enertia is that when I do get a Plus it will feel like a brand new bike....which is always fun (if I had gone from Plus mule to my own Plus it would not have been much of a change.)
