first model year Empulse
« on: February 23, 2011, 08:28:04 PM »
I never buy the first model of anything. I wait for a later model with all the improvements or fixes.

What is Brammo going to do to make me buy a 2011 Empulse?

Free upgrades/parts?

The first Empulse owners are special people because we are helping Brammo take a big step into the motorcycle world.

Brammo, please do something for us. 8) :-* :-* 8)

Brammo has been pretty good to this point about taking care of their early adopters. $2500 loyalty discount on the Enertia Plus for Enertia 3.1 owners was pretty generous, and a really brilliant move besides: moves more Enertia Plus models, creates a large second-hand supply of Enertia 3.1s for people that would like to buy used.

I certainly would not expect something similar, but I wouldn't be too surprised if Brammo had something planned for the Empulse owners. Organized Empulse trackdays would be very cool.. or discounted TTXGP tickets maybe :> Who knows..

The way gas prices are going up, the demand for new and used Enertias will be going up among the general public. The fuel prices at my local gas station went up 20 cents a gallon last night.
current bikes: 2018 16.6 kWh Zero S, 2011 Royal Enfield Bullet 500 Classic, 2009 BMW F650GS, 2007 BMW R1200R, 2005 Triumph T-100 Bonneville, 2002 Yamaha FZ1 and a 1978 Honda Kick 'N Go Senior.

Brammo will provide you with a fun, stylish motorcycle that runs on electricity and has an unmatched range for an unmatched price. Sounds like the wont need to bribe early adopters to me... plus they have gone above and beyond for their existing customers.

Brammo sent their tech from 120 miles away, to come to my house on a Sunday and do an upgrade to my Enertia. He was there for two hours. Updated main software and charging software. Retapped the kickstand switch so it would not have to be "pushed up" to get the bike moving. Downloaded all the riding data from the 4 GB flash drive (under the seat).
And what was I charged?

Nada!

So don't worry about getting the first year vehicle with "bugs". Brammo will take care of you.

I took a tour of the Brammo facility last May (thanks Brian!) and was shown the mock up of the Empulse (which was covered up with a tarp at first). The final version looks even better than the mock up.

That is nice, but 120 is nothing. I drive that to work everyday.  :D

How about 1800 miles?  Does that impress you?  That's approximately how far my Brammo tech came to update my bike, fix the handlebars, check it over, etc.

If the bike were made to be owner friendly I would be able to do most if not all the updating or fixing myself. Like I do with my gas bike.

Your response raises a few questions that have been running through my head ever since your first couple of posts:
1. Is there anything that about electric motorcycles that you find interesting, besides criticizing them?
2. Why, exactly, did you bother joining the "Brammo Owners Forum"?
3. Are you a Harley owner?
Just wondering.

1. an e-bike entering the sport bike world
2. I pre-ordered a 8.0
3. only HD's I can live with are Buells.
4. I come from the sport bike world: rider, commuter, wannabe tech
5. honest criticism is what makes things better. In this case, an e-sportbike that is not a sportier Enertia.
6. this is the internet, I can type whatever I wish.

1. Chip Yates did a lovely job on that one didn't he?  ;D
2. Patience young grasshopper. They will arrive.
3. I like most Harley's. Some of their riders I can do without.

Where did 4-6 come from? :)

My point about Harleys was going to be something along the lines of, "express some criticism on some of the Harley forums and see how long you last."  Sure, constructive criticism is welcome here.  But make it constructive.  When someone makes a point about Brammo's customer service coming 120 miles to fix something, you criticize it because it's about the same distance as your commute.  So I tell about my service call, 1800 miles, and you criticize the bike for not being owner-friendly.  I wouldn't do my own service on the bike even if it was owner friendly because, frankly, I'm mechanically inept.

If something happened to your current mode of transportation (can't remember what you drive or ride), that was beyond your abilities, would you expect the manufacturer to send a tech out to fix it?

And, yeah, this is the internet and you can type whatever you wish, but this is also a forum that is run by people.  I suspect you have a lot of knowledge and experience to share with us.  I'm hopeful that we'll get to see some of that soon.

Back on topic. I hope software upgrades and minor adjusments do not require a trip to the stealership or a visit from a tech. Please make it simple so we don't need to rely on a technician.
