Are you "the media"?

If my post mentions too much, please edit or just delete... Thanks

Gavin
We're definitely not the media, although I know some media people are lurking about.  I can feel your presence, Domenick.

By the time the discussion gets noticed, it will be tomorrow and the real news release will happen and our little corner of the Internet will once again become irrelevant and super-niche-y.

I was going to offer to be a Brammo test subject, but the medicine they'll be testing on us has caused hallucinations in mammalian testing.

The prototype issue: the Big Guy said that the prototypes have not and would not cause delay.  Rather, I think they are part of the testing of the "new" technology.

Do I know what the new technology is? I'll tell you tomorrow.

I did contact a member of this forum who also happens to be a Brammo employee, and I asked for advance pictures of the mini moto bikes.  He/she said that the bikes were in a windowless room and there was no power for a lightbulb.   :D

I sure hope someone will post the whole email tomorrow.  I placed my pre-order on July 28th, but never received an email!

Past midnight here in New Mexico time....so here ya go...

[spoiler]
Dear Gavin,

Thank you for your support and interest in Brammo and the 100 mph Empulse. I want to provide you an update on the production development of your Empulse. We have very high expectations of all of our products, and from the response, interest and feedback we have received, the world is eager to get their hands on Brammo’s greatest creation so far: our electric street bike. We have been testing and developing more groundbreaking technology which has proven to greatly improve acceleration. I will continue to update you about this exciting technology as news becomes available.

With such intense interest in the Empulse, Brammo teams and suppliers across the globe are working hard to deliver you a motorcycle of the level of quality Brammo riders have come to expect. We had a tough decision to make recently: Deliver the Empulse this riding season, or integrate our latest technology and deliver a superior bike in 2012. After much deliberation, we decided to be true to our values and build the best bike we can. We still have a good amount of work and testing to do in order to bring you the world's greatest electric motorcycle. We believe it is going to be worth the wait. For those of you who are interested, we plan to involve some of you in test riding the new Empulse once we have completed the safety testing.

This week we will be announcing some new prototype models based on the new technology. These bikes have helped us thoroughly test and prove the technology that is being integrated into the Empulse.

We truly appreciate your patience. Meanwhile, we have a lot of work to do. We are signing up the best dealers we can find to carry the growing family of Brammo motorcycles, so if you have a dealer you trust and respect, be sure to tell us, as we value your opinion.

Once we have appointed a Brammo dealer near you, we will be communicating with them to work with you on the details of the purchase and delivery of your Empulse. I wanted you to hear this exciting news directly and so I would be most grateful if you didn’t discuss any of this with the media until it is formally announced on Wednesday.

I will be in touch again soon...

Sincerely,
Craig Bramscher
CEO and Founder Brammo Inc.

Seems like a win win scenario to me...of course being one quarter platapus---on my fathers side---well I'm not quite sure what the medicinal side effects might be.

If you never received anything, I would write to them.

The e-mail is good news to me. I already ride a Brammo Enertia, and another season is just fine with me; especially if they can make improvements to the Empluse for the 2012 riding season. I am looking forward to learning more about the technical details.

I am not only a fan of Brammo products, but I am a fan of the company itself. I want Brammo to succeed. I think it is better for Brammo to wait to provide a superior product than to rush with an unready product. I think the Empulse will be a game-changer.

I would certainly like to test ride an Empulse; along with a bunch of other people here.

+ me too.  I will use this delay to save my pennies. Probably buy the Empulse 8.0 instead of 6.0.  :D

Check your inbox. 30 minutes ago I received another two-page message from Brammo titled: "Brammo Announces a Strategic Partnership with SMRE". I am still trying to visualize what a "mechatronic propulsion unit" might be.
current bikes: 2018 16.6 kWh Zero S, 2011 Royal Enfield Bullet 500 Classic, 2009 BMW F650GS, 2007 BMW R1200R, 2005 Triumph T-100 Bonneville, 2002 Yamaha FZ1 and a 1978 Honda Kick 'N Go Senior.

Just this announcement.  Probably lost in the yahoo email spam filter black hole.  It will show up out of the blue in a week or so!

Here is the message that I received yesterday afternoon:

May 04, 2011 07:01 AM Eastern Daylight Time
Brammo Announces a Strategic Partnership with S.M.R.E. and Launches New Brammo Motorcycles with patented IET Six-Speed Drivetrain

ASHLAND, Ore. & UMBERTIDE, Italy--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Brammo, Inc., a global leader in the electric vehicle industry, and S.M.R.E. Engineering, a leading engineering research and development company, today announced that Brammo and S.M.R.E. have entered into a strategic partnership. As a part of this agreement, Brammo has acquired an exclusive international license for S.M.R.E.'s patented Integrated Electric Transmission™ (IET). IET enables Brammo to offer its electric motorcycles with a 6-speed transmission - further improving performance and range. The first application of the new IET will be on the Brammo Engage and Encite, which are being announced today and which will be unveiled prior to competing in the MiniMotoSX race in Las Vegas on Friday, May 6, 2011.

"It is fundamental to Brammo's success that we continue to innovate and develop our strong reputation for high-quality, exciting motorcycles," stated Craig Bramscher, CEO and Founder of Brammo, Inc. "Combining the S.M.R.E. Integrated Electric Transmission system with the Brammo Power™ Batteries and Battery Management System keeps Brammo at the forefront of Powersports drivetrain technology."

"We are delighted to have Brammo as our strategic partner," said Samuele Mazzini, Founder and CEO of S.M.R.E. and creator of the IET™. "This alliance will see the IET integrated into Brammo motorcycles and enjoyed by riders all around the world."

Today Brammo announces four new models all featuring the IET™ and swappable Brammo Power battery packs.

Engage MX - dirt bike competing in MiniMotoSX - anticipated price $9,995.00
Engage SMR - Super Moto Racing - anticipated price $9,995.00
Engage SMS - Super Moto Street - anticipated price $11,995.00
Encite MMX PRO - mini dirt bike competing in MiniMotoSX - no price announced

Prices do not include relevant taxes or Federal and State electric vehicle incentives.

“Electric motorcycle design has always been a bit of a balancing act in direct drive systems where great acceleration performance comes at the expense of low top-end speed”

The Engage and Encite join the award-winning Enertia and stunning Empulse. Together, these four model ranges offer motorcycle dealerships the most comprehensive range of electric motorcycles available. Brammo continues to expand its dealership network in North America and will be adding many new dealers over the next 90 days.

Integrated Electric Transmission (IET™) - the IET™ is a mechatronic propulsion unit that emulates the feeling and performance of a traditional internal combustion engine, with a specially developed electric motor, clutch and gear shift that enables Brammo motorcycles to accelerate hard from the line up to a high top speed, something that is just not possible to achieve with a single-ratio electric motorcycle.

"Electric motorcycle design has always been a bit of a balancing act in direct drive systems where great acceleration performance comes at the expense of low top-end speed," stated Brian Wismann, Director of Product Development at Brammo. "The IET™ system provides the best of both worlds and is the perfect complement to Brammo's industry-leading Brammo Power battery and vehicle control technology to maintain our position as the world's leading electric motorcycle manufacturer."

All I really wanted to hear about was the brammo sportbike, the Empulse. Now with the other types of e-motorcycles, the Empulse seems less of a star :-\ Brammo should focus on the Empulse first then other bikes later.
