All I really wanted to hear about was the brammo sportbike, the Empulse. Now with the other types of e-motorcycles, the Empulse seems less of a star :-\ Brammo should focus on the Empulse first then other bikes later.

I dont think Brammo has lost focus on the Empulse, it's still gonna be their bread and butter bike. The Engage and the Encite also serve as testbeds for some new technologies that are sure to make their way to the Empulse. Appreciate the fact that the Empulse is now even more positioned to be the sportbike we all want it to be.

It will be interesting to see in a couple of years which bike is their "bread and butter" bike.

I think far and away the Enertia and Plus will be the big seller in China, Asia and Europe...unless they make a scooter.

The Empulse should be the biggest seller in the states...though an affordable mini bike (mmx pro?) could actually sell more by numbers.

The Empulse is likely to remain their "flagship" model---largest, fastest, highest price...which is very important....

It will be interesting to see sales numbers,  here in the states and worldwide, after Brammo is up and running for a few years.

I hope they do well...some of it depends on if Honda and others wake up and throw out an electric or two...but I think Brammo could get a good head start and cement themselves before that happens....the electric market right now is too small...but it will grow.

And yes I agree....Brammo will not lose sight of the Empulse...the model coming in 2012 will be amazing.

I sure hope someone will post the whole email tomorrow.  I placed my pre-order on July 28th, but never received an email!
No email here either. I believe my preorder was made in July as well.

For those of you who are interested, we plan to involve some of you in test riding the new Empulse once we have completed the safety testing.

I keep checking my email AND snail mail for my non-disclosure agreement....I have to ASSUME I will be a test rider and I'm sure Brammo will want me to sign some forms....

Maybe it was lost in the mail??

:)

If you get that NDA, how are we ever going to know if you actually got to test ride the Empulse?   ;D

I will keep an eye out for that NDA too... Brammo is considering me as a test rider right?! We should just flat out ask them...

You guys haven't heard yet?  I heard a day after the email came out. Maybe they're going by alphabetical order.

"once we have completed the safety testing."

Mmmmmm, this step could easily be bypassed...

1) along with the NDA, include a "will never ever Never sue" clause...

2) motorcycles by nature and definition are not "safe"...at least not on roads with cars...or roads with trees...or roads with gravel, dirt, leaves or basically any road not made of and lined with temperpedic pillows the whole way. Motorcycle riders want to ride first and be safe second. Actually if we wanted to be safe we would all travel in that bubble from The Prisoner.

Now I know what Brammo means by safety testing...but in truth it will be the purchasers that really put on the miles and truly test any bike for unforeseen issues and weaknesses. Heck, Brammo can tell if a design is truly dangerous in a 5 minute test ride. It takes thousands of miles to find the small, weirdly dangerous issues.

Gavin A....who's nickname in high school was weirdly dangerous.

I don't know . . . sounds like eCRP had a safety issue during the e-Power race last weekend.  Fire extinguishers were involved.  :o

I'm a little unclear on your intentions, Gavin.  Do you want to be a tester?

A) I would LOVE to be a tester.

B) I would LOVE to be an owner.

C) I would LOVE to be both :)

Mostly I just want one NOW.

1) If I can ride one now/sooner by being a tester, cool...I love to ride...I ride year round and I am not shy about giving my opinion to Brammo...seems a win win win :)

2) If I can ride one now/sooner by being an owner, cool...I would love to give Brammo some of my money.

And double-winner chicken dinner, If I can own an Electric Powercycle and also get to be a tester of new bikes too....gah, I would likely spontaneously combust with excitement...but not literally as fire and electric vehicle is a touchy subject (see: Volt fire).

And yes, Brammo of course needs to do ample safety testing, just saying sooner or later you have to put in miles and miles...only with those miles and miles will all "issues" get revealed and ironed out.

Gavin

ah, wait...was your comment being subtle?? I can't imagine anybody here doesn't know that I would love to be a tester...It's not like I've hinted around the bush...I've been basically smacking the bush with a sledge hammer....

BMW may not seem to be working too hard on building an electric motorcycle (that we know of), but they apparently are looking out for your safety. If you don't believe me check out this report about their new system that will prevent left-turn crashes - as long as the car that runs into you is not a Volvo:

http://www.visordown.com/motorcycle-news--general-news/bmws-anti-smidsy-system/18029.html

current bikes: 2018 16.6 kWh Zero S, 2011 Royal Enfield Bullet 500 Classic, 2009 BMW F650GS, 2007 BMW R1200R, 2005 Triumph T-100 Bonneville, 2002 Yamaha FZ1 and a 1978 Honda Kick 'N Go Senior.

I had to check the date of the article twice because I suspected it was an April Fools prank.  Apparently, not.
Quote
In critical situations the motorcycle increases its conspicuity to warn the car driver. The level of collision risk is assessed and various measures taken accordingly; the motorcycle’s headlight is adjusted gradually, its strength increased and the flashlights and LEDs positioned on the sides of the bike and on its mirrors are activated to create a broader silhouette. If there is an acute risk of collision, the motorcycle’s horn also sounds. If the car continues into the intersection regardless, the left turn assistant brakes the car automatically to a standstill.

That's some crazy sh!t!

BMW is really getting the word out about this scary (to my mind) idea. Here is another, even longer and more detailed article:

http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-news/2011/bmw-left-turn-assistant.htm
current bikes: 2018 16.6 kWh Zero S, 2011 Royal Enfield Bullet 500 Classic, 2009 BMW F650GS, 2007 BMW R1200R, 2005 Triumph T-100 Bonneville, 2002 Yamaha FZ1 and a 1978 Honda Kick 'N Go Senior.
