Hi EV promise,
thanks for your reply.
My RS485 adapter has a CH340 chipset. A CH340SER driver is installed, COM4 is recognised by the Victory diag SW. IT Looks good so far, but If really an FTDI chip ist required then I will buy a new adapter before I continue.

Hello way_ahead, first thing to confirm is your usb rs485 adapter has the FTDI chip for the software to connect. Second there is a battery disconnect plug under the cover above the radiator ( looks like a welding connector) is that connected?
It's always possible the cells have no charge. The last couple of files from the usb data logger under the seat posted on here would also help to see what happened last.
Hope this helps

Hello everybody,

I am trying to revitalise the batteries of a Brammo Empulse E1 which was not recharged since 2019. Charging does not work, nothing happens. If i switch on the bike with the key, nothing happens.

So far, I have connected a communication cable to module 1, the comm cables between the modules are all connected. I powered up 12 Volt through the cable and see green LEDs on the upper modules on. I haven't looked at the lower modules, I assume they are on, too.

The Victory Batt Diag Software finds my USB-RS485 Adapter as COM5. I click "Connection > Auto connect" and get a popup message:

"The battery type could not be detected. A configuration update might need to be performed."

If I click OK I get the other attached screen.

Maybe I should mention that the communication cable is fresh self-made. I haven't yet seen it working.

Any ideas what I can do?
Do the screens confirm that the communication works?
Or can failing communication cause the error?
Or does the Victory Software not work with Brammo's Brammos?

Regards,
Ralph

Brammo Enertia Plus / Revival Project: 2013 E+ that does not accept charge
« Last post by most on February 25, 2025, 11:22:42 AM »
Hi everyone,

after solving problems with my first steps in this forum I hope my posts are now shown completely.
 The skinny so far:
- bought an Enertia Plus for VERY small price - seller indicated that the bike stood since 2023 and now does not accept any charge
- thanks to KaFr and Corbin Dallas I managed to get the analysis SW installed - see attached Excel showing the last charge attempt - added a few lines from a 2013 log just for convenience

Initially I planned to disassemble both BPM modules to measure each cell, but now since I can see that the cells are all above 2.6 .... 3.0 volt, maybe a different approach might be better. But which one?

I am hoping for some good advice here.

Cheers
Mat

Okay... I figured it out!
Any time there is an apostrophe or quotation mark, it is making the software glitch and cutting it off.  But only those apostrophe's and "quotation marks" that aren't the vertical ones.  I think it may be a problem in UTF-8 choice in the software.  I let John know and hopefully he will fix it soon.

UNTIL THEN: No slanted apostrophes or quotation marks.

Testing to see what the character cutoff is...going to try posting Matthias' text.

Weird. It seems to cut off at the apostrophe in BMW.... going to try something else

Hi everyone,
my name is Matthias, 57. I have quite a longer history of motorbikes
with BMWs Boxer being a reoccurring phenomenon. In 2018 I
bought an older Vectrix VX2 scooter which was my entry into electric
bikes. While waiting for BMS and LiFePo4 Batteries from China to
swap with the stock lead batteries I was test riding a Zero DSR. BIG
mistake. Sold the Vectrix immediately and bought a dealer's demo
Zero DS in 2019.
Promised my wife that at riding seaons end either my BMW
R1200GS or the Zero would be sold.
Well, I sold both and went for an Energica SS9+. That one I lot in a
barn fire I (not caused by the bike), insurance paid right away and I
went for a Enerigica Ribelle. Again sold the Ribelle late 2022 when
Energica announced the Experia.
I still have the Experia, but again made some money with buy-
polish/repair-sell of a series of other bikes, with brought me to my
current second bike: R1250GS (again BMW).
Since my Zero DS days I have two friends riding Brammo Empulse,
and actually I also have considered a Brammo when I was looking to
by that Zero back in 2019. But the gearbox of the Empulse rather
prevented me from buying it. I haven't had the Empulse on my radar
those days - but set BRAMMO as a constant search in my
"Kleinanzeigen" (the German version of craigslist), where
occasionally bikes would appear for sale. Nowadays much more
rarely, though...
So it was a no-brainer when someone sold that Empulse Plus a week
ago, non-riding as it would not accept any charge after standing for
three years and advertised it as "for spare parts" Picked it up
yesterday. I will continue that story in the Enertia Plus section!
Not sure how long I will be active here. Maybe just a few weeks,
maybe for a longer time. Depends on if and how I can revive that
bike. And that's a story better to be continued in the Enertia Plus
section..
