I don't know about the power train, but those are some serious looking bikes. Nothing fancy, but it sure looks like the chassis will get the job done in the dirt. I'll bet Brammo mops up the field in the race. I hope someone (like Brammo) takes a video of the race and posts it or a link here. It should not only be exciting, but will provide more information regarding the future of EV performance. I have to agree with Brammo that quiet dirt riding/racing is the wave of the future - at least in urban areas.
current bikes: 2018 16.6 kWh Zero S, 2011 Royal Enfield Bullet 500 Classic, 2009 BMW F650GS, 2007 BMW R1200R, 2005 Triumph T-100 Bonneville, 2002 Yamaha FZ1 and a 1978 Honda Kick 'N Go Senior.

Brammo released some new information here http://www.wired.com/autopia/2011/05/brammo-six-speed-tranmission

In case the link doesn't come through well, here's some of what's in the story. Planned range, 60 - 80 miles on the street, 20 - 30 minutes of hard dirt track. Swappable battery, which will be bigger than the prototypes. Price on extra battery unknown but they want to keep it low enough to not make it too scary to buy. Recharge time of 2 - 3 hours on 110 volts. Approximate release is 2012. Although nothing definite there.

More information available in the report, so I hope you can at least cut and paste it.

Looks like i found what i was looking for...a few kilometers away from home, in the swiss alps!

Another company is developping 6 geared dual sport electric motorcycles, but the performances seem ahead of what Brammo is planning to offer :

Apart from the 6 gears, there is an option between performance and endurance, pleasure and commuting. but most interesting are the digits :

- over 120 km/h (75 mph) max speed : you can go on the highway without hindering...
- 120 km (75 miles) max range on eco mode : fits my communing needs (35 milesx2+city shopping)
- 1.5 h recharge time with a specific charger!!! this doubles my range since i can now go shopping, recharge on a parking slot and come back.

Here is the link : http://www.midrive.ch/wordpress/?page_id=1142&lang=en

Looks interesting.  I looked at the site but can't see any videos of the bikes in action.  They appear to be at the prototype stage, so it might be awhile before you actually get your hands on one.  Let us know when you do, though.

I'm going to keep this thread here, on the "news and views" subforum, but I wanted to mention that further discussion should happen on either the Brammo Engage subforum, or the Brammo Encite subforum.

As always, any "news" (i.e. "I just saw this article in ...) or "views" (just saw a cool video of...) can still be posted here, especially if it is just generally about Brammo, or it is about all their bikes, but if something pertains to a specific model, you probably should post it on the related subforum.

Nop sir, those beasts seem very alive on those vids  :P : http://www.technologicvehicles.com/fr/actualite-mobilite-verte/833/video-e-moto-le-championnat-suisse-de-motos-e

Actually, the swiss manufacturer gets the 6 gear system from the same italian provider as Brammo does.

They look identical to the Engage and Encite.
