Empulse Launch Event!
« on: May 07, 2012, 08:35:01 AM »
Only one more day before we get the final information about the Empulse!

This should include:

  • Detailed images of the bike!
  • Differences between the Empulse and the Empulse R!
  • Delivery dates!
  • Winner of the Free Empulse!
  • Info from Craig Bramscher!
  • and most importantly... Price!

I also suspect that some pretty ladies may be there.
The official schedule includes "Empulse RR race bike in its new livery" and "Interviews with pro racers who have been involved in the development of the Empulse/Empulse R." but in light of this weekends events, I'm not sure what form that will take. Perhaps we'll have some information about what happened instead.

I may (or may not) see some of you on line tomorrow. Depending of if a Google Hangout is set up by anybody and if my laptop can handle it.

Tune in to the live stream event from 8pm (PST).  Just in case you've lost it, here's the link to it:

I'm hoping to set up a Hangout. We'll see if it works  :-\
Might try a pre-event test.

Time clarification: email says 8 pm PDT, livestream says 7 pm PDT. Which one is it? Stream starts at 7, actual launch starts at 8?

I'm reasonably sure that the stream starts at 7pm PDT.  Just keep your evening free. :)

I've never been part of a Google HandoutHangout before. Some instructions on how to join up with one would be helpful. :)

Edit: Phooey. I can't type. (Perhaps I'm too psyched up about tomorrow!)

Google Handout... where do I sign up for that!? JK... I have no idea how Hangout works either. I do know that you must have a Google Plus account to use it though.

I'm in Afghanistan so I'll have to be up around 7am, sounds good but Im off shift at 1am and due back on at around noon. It's kinda funny that I preordered over a year ago while I was in Iraq hopping that I would get it when I got back, but then a year later I'm due back to this side of the world and will have to wait till next year to ride it. BUT it will be waiting for me when I get back this time!! ;D

In a case of almost being too late with the news, last night I finally got around to reading the May issue of City Bike which I picked up about 10 days ago and saw this statement in their "News, Clues & Rumors" column:

"On May 8th, two new models - dubbed the Empulse and Empulse R - will be shown to the press and deposit-holders in Los Angeles, with journalists getting demo units during the summer. The distinction between the two models is unclear, but we were shown a snapshot of the redesigned Empulse, and we think you'll like it: think a lighter, tidier-looking Suzuki SV650, with clean, simple bodywork and a standard tube handlebar instead of the racy-looking clipons of the prototype.  Of course, hataz' gona hate, so there will be on shortage of juvenile jeering and cries of "fugly" from those who don't like change, but we think a whole new generation will be turned on (heh, heh) by this bike, and we wouldn't be surprised to find it made bike of the year by more than one publication."

I found the statement that journalists would be receiving test bikes during the summer interesting. I wonder if that is going to be before or after pre-order customers receive their bikes?

Quoting delivery dates is tricky  (we are now very close to the magic 1000 pre-orders).
If you pre-order an Empulse today clearly you will be at the end of a long line !
The first time the final design appears in public will probably be at EICMA in November.
The first bikes from production will go into long term high mileage testing.
The second group will be used for homologation and type approval in USA/Europe/Asia
The next group will be made available to the media for review.
Then bikes will go to dealers in the different regions N America/ Europe / Asia
The dealers will deliver in the order the bikes were pre-ordered, some customers may want to delay their delivery, if this happens other pre-orders will move up the line.
Everyone who has pre-ordered will be kept full informed via the Empulse Newsletter and they will be contacted by their local dealer 90 days before their Empulse goes into production.

Rest assured delivering the Empulse in volume is our #1 priority.

Worth quoting again, though plans could easily have changed ... in the last 9 months. Emphasis added.

This in particular makes me sad:
